Happy birthday to me! Tonight, I officially turn 27. It’s a pretty amazing thing for me every year because my dad always tells me the story of the night I was born.
I was born 12 weeks early, thanks to placental abruption. I wasn’t due til November, and had Mom & Dad not decided to to Lamaze class that night, I may not have made it. The doctors came running out of the OR and informed dad that not only did he have about 10 minutes if he wanted to see his daughter alive, his wife may die, too.
Pretty heavy stuff for a 19 year old boy…I say boy because he did a lot of growing up that night. Every year, I thank the universe I’m still here and that my mom is too.
I didn’t set out to cheat today, but–I didn’t closely monitor as usual, either.
